Alrighty then, let’s talk about having fun in Spring and Summer 2019!
Troy Community center is the hub of Troy Michigan’s citizen activities. It has been since 2004 when the old Troy high was dismantled to make way for the new, state of the art 127,000 square foot facility.
Thirteen world class amenities
Back then, the idea of a community center like Troy’s was a novel idea. The facility houses no less than 13 amenities including:
- 7300 sq foot fitness center
- A Gymnasium boasting two courts
- Child care
- Four fitness studios
- Locker rooms (men, women, family)
- Game room (think teens)
- Outdoor jogging and walking
- Skate park
- Bocce & Shuffle board courts
- Outdoor playground
- Picnic shelter
It isn’t just us talking about how great it is
In fact, the center houses one of Michigan’s best indoor water parks according to Metro Parent. So then, what types of things are there to do in all this wonder of civic activity? More specifically, what can Troy’s residents expect when they visit the center.
Well, for spring 2019, Troy’s community special event list includes:
- Saturday May 4, 10:00 am, Daddy & Me build a car
- Saturday May 11, 5:00 pm, Family Night Out
- Sunday May 12, Moms are Special Day
- Tuesday May 14, 8:00 am, Summer program registration (Residents)
- Thursday May 16, 8:00 am, Summer program registration (Nonresident)
All Troy Community Recreation and Civic event programs and special events coming up for spring and summer provide for well rounded, professional led programs.
Troy’s Community center is a year-round thing
In addition to the special programs offered at the center, the Troy Community center offers ongoing programs that residents and nonresidents of the city can enjoy. Safety Town prepares and educates youngsters on the important topic of personal safety. Safety Town is prepared for two age groups, those entering kindergarten, and those entering 1st grade.
Rainbow Preschool Camps return annually offering a variety of activities like free play, circle time, outdoor play time, and art activities. The Rainbow program is designed for children 3 to 5 years old and the fee includes instructions, supplies, and a Rainbow Preschool t-shirt.
Skull Island gives kids a private island campground experience with activities like zip-lining, fishing, paddle-boating, swimming, rock-climbing, and other outdoor sport activities. The experience is accented by a boat ride to a private Island on Pontiac lake. All Skull Island session’s fee include all snacks, drinks, full buffet lunch, sunblock, safety equipment, fishing gear and bait.
The full line up of Troy Recreation Summer Camps 2019 is big enough to make sure that kids have access to plenty of fun and interesting activities throughout the summer.
Plenty of adult programs too
Let’s not forget about the adults in the room!
Specifically for all ages, Troy Community Center’s Culture and Education programs include Art Classes tailored to age group, Premier Plus Dance & Theatre for ages 3 through 17. In addition, Music and Education programs round out some great programs for all.
Troy Recreation Center’s 50+ crowd takes advantage of the centers Computer Lab, Creative Endeavors Store, bountiful Classes and Programs, and trips designed specifically for energetic and active people looking for creative ways to spend time in interesting and different environments. In addition, Troy Community Center offers beneficial Senior Resources and Transportation for easy access to the center.
So, here’s the thing, the Troy Community center is there for the enjoyment of Troy and its surrounding communities’ residents. It’s just one of the reasons people love to live, work, and play in Troy Michigan.
